However, until now SPR has only been accessible through the use of dedicated and expensive specialist instrumentation – high capital and running costs and limited throughput mean that label-free analysis is restricted in its application and use.

SoPRano™ Technology – SPR in solution using gold nanomaterials
The SoPRano™ platform uses an adaptation of SPR known as Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) whereby Gold Nano Rods (GNR) in solution are coated with the protein of interest.
A highly reproducible and dose dependent absorbance change occurs when target protein molecules attached to the surface of the GNR’s interact with a ligand. This is measured on a standard absorbance plate reader. Because the SoPRano™ technology is solution-based, it is highly flexible and can be used in 96- or 384-well formats.
