SPR label-free screening on a standard absorbance plate-reader

Researchers have been using Surface Plasmon Resonance technology for many years and SPR now holds a valuable role in basic research and the discovery process for protein, antibody and small molecule therapeutics.

However, until now SPR has only been accessible through the use of dedicated and expensive specialist instrumentation – high capital and running costs and limited throughput mean that label-free analysis  is restricted in its application and use.

SoPRano™ GNR Technology – SPR in solution using gold nanomaterials

SoPRano™ uses an adaptation of SPR known as Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) whereby Gold Nano Rods (GNR) in solution are coated with the protein of interest.

A highly reproducible and dose dependent absorbance change occurs when target protein molecules attached to the surface of the GNR’s interact with a ligand. This is measured on a standard absorbance plate reader. Because SoPRano™ is solution-based, it is highly flexible and can be used in 96- or 384-well formats.

• No specialised SPR equipment required:
